Southside BB School District has been selected as an emerging growing healthy community by the Arkansas Coalition for Obesity Prevention. The Southside Bee Bee Branch Wellness Committee recognized a need for local Health care services in the Bee Branch area. The SSBB School Board approved the use of district funds to renovate the superintendent’s former house into a school based health center, Hornet Health Care. South Side Bee Branch School District has partnered with Boston Mountain Rural Health Center to promote the concept of healthy youth development, reduce faculty/staff and student absenteeism and to improve the health and well-being of students, faculty and staff. The community members will have access to the health facility’s that will include a full time nurse practitioner and will offer dental assistants. The Southside BB School District also has a strong anti-bullying campaign and anti-bullying is promoted thought PSA, Video, and class room doors are decorated with anti-bullying materials and the best classroom door receives a prize.
